Applicant Requirements: All students with relevant professional or personal experience can apply for RDA. Students enrolled in a program must make their request according to the schedule.

How do students apply? Complete the Request for recognition of prior learning form after requesting an appointment with Admissions and Registrar office.

Fees: $1.25 for each hour of class; maximum set at $158.27.

Types of PLAR offered: Course specific and Block for Childcare Education Program.

Credit award limits: La Cité can recognize up to 1,300 hours of training, or nearly 50 to 75% of the hours of the program for Block transfers associated with child care education program.

Assessment methods: Challenge exam; lab demonstration; portfolio.

Steps in PLAR process: The student fills out the application form for RPL and pays the administrative costs. The request is presented to the Admissions and Registrar Office. The student takes a local test that will measure the achievement of the learning outcomes of the course or the development indicators of the competency for which they are applying or, as prescribed, presents portfolio for evaluation.
