Applicant Requirements The granting of credits through PLAR does not guarantee entry into a Program of Study. Candidates must follow established admission procedures.

Fees: The 2020-2021 non-refundable PLAR registration fee is $145.13 per course.
Types of PLAR offered: Course specific.
Credit award limits: A candidate must earn a minimum of 25% of their credits as a registered student at Mohawk College. Credits are granted on a course-by-course basis with a maximum of 75% of credits earned through PLAR.
Assessment methods: The assessor may require a challenge exam and/or portfolio assessment. Additional demonstration of learning may be requested at the assessor's discretion.
Steps in PLAR process: Contact your Program Coordinator/Program Manager, Post-Secondary or Continuing Education department for information & approval for your PLAR. Submit the PLAR Registration Form (PDF) to plar@mohawkcollege.ca. Check your email for updates and next steps.

Credit recognition on transcripts: Assessors will make all reasonable efforts to transcribe credits in the same way as the course. Where that is not possible, a "CR" - Credit Granted - will be used if requirements are met.
