Summary

In 2024, ONCAT awarded Brock University $75,000 via an ONCAT Capacity Grant to launch a prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR) initiative for Indigenous learners. The PLAR pathway provides credit for informal and non-formal learning for learners in the Bachelor of Indigenous Adult Education program. To create this initiative, the project team collaborated with Indigenous faculty and community partners to explore meaningful ways to assess learning using a Two-Eyed Seeing approach that values both Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives.

This learner guidebook is one of the resources that resulted from this project. It should be used during an advising session and not as a standalone resource for learners. Institutions are free to use and adapt it as they wish.
