The Board of Directors of the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Adrienne Galway as the organization’s new Executive Director. She will start her position May 2nd, 2022.
As a distinguished senior leader in postsecondary education, Dr. Galway will bring to the role 15 years of experience in program and curriculum development and quality assurance; academic policy development; federal and provincial government relations; public relations and communications; and strategic partnerships.
“Dr. Adrienne Galway is uniquely qualified with extensive government, college, and university experience. Her understanding of diverse stakeholders and communities will be an asset to ONCAT's continued success,” says Dr. Ron Common, ONCAT Board of Directors Co-Chair and President of Sault College.
Dr. Galway spent the last 10 years serving in several senior positions at George Brown College — most recently as the Associate Vice-President of Government and External Relations. In this role, she managed a large number of college stakeholder and government relationships and served as the college’s spokesperson on a range of issues. Dr. Galway also served as Special Advisor to the President at George Brown, where she oversaw the academic excellence portfolio and was responsible for academic quality and new program development. She has supported the development of the George Brown College plan for implementing the seven principles of the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) Indigenous Education Protocol.
Before joining George Brown, Dr. Galway served as the Senior Advisor to the Minister of Training, Colleges, and Universities and as the Education Policy Advisor to the Leader of the Official Opposition, Government of Ontario. She has been a sessional faculty member, teaching political science, education and Canadian studies at the University of Toronto and the State University of New York at Buffalo and has extensive experience working with and serving on governance boards in the university, college, and not-for-profit sectors.
“Dr. Galway has demonstrated throughout her career and academic studies a genuine concern for, and focus on, student success. Combined with her ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively, she is strongly positioned as executive director to lead ONCAT in meeting its strategic goals,” adds Deborah MacLatchy, ONCAT Co-Chair and President and Vice-Chancellor, Wilfrid Laurier University.
The Board of Directors would like to express its sincere appreciation to Shauna Love and Andrew Wilson for serving as ONCAT’s Interim Executive Directors. Shauna and Andrew have very successfully co-led ONCAT's operations and strategic direction during the interim period. The Board is grateful for their leadership contributions and recognizes the many achievements of the ONCAT team.
