TORONTO — The Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) has launched a redesigned ONTransfer.ca, the online guide that helps learners explore transfer and pathway options across colleges, universities and Indigenous Institutes in Ontario.

Amid global economic uncertainty, navigating Ontario’s postsecondary system is critical in building a resilient workforce to drive and protect our economy,” said Hon. Nolan Quinn, Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security. “ONCAT’s redesigned website will ensure that learners can get the timely information they need to enter the workforce sooner so they can launch meaningful, in-demand careers.”

ONTransfer.ca is Ontario’s go-to resource for navigating through Ontario’s postsecondary system,” said Adrienne Galway, President and CEO, ONCAT. “This website redesign will help learners make smarter decisions, avoid repeating courses and move more quickly into the workforce.

The website brings together transfer pathways, course equivalencies and related postsecondary information in one place, making it easier to plan next steps and transfer credits. In the 2024/25 academic year, transfer credits saved domestic students more than $73 million in tuition and $22 million in provincial operating grant savings, underscoring the important role transfer credits play in Ontario’s postsecondary system.

The refreshed website offers an improved experience for navigating transfer information, bringing together key data from postsecondary institutions across Ontario in one central, easy-to-access location.

Clearer options for more learners

A significant share of college and university applicants — 48% according to a recent survey — are not first-time students but apply with previous postsecondary experience. Reflecting the range of learner experiences, the enhanced website offers navigation and content tailored to five specific audiences: high school students, postsecondary students, graduate students, mature learners and military-connected learners.

Content is now organized around the questions people ask when exploring their postsecondary options, helping users see how their prior learning can support their future choices. Clear navigation and simplified content make transfer options, key terms and next steps easier to understand — so learners can make informed decisions and confidently build on what they already know.

Designed with learners and sector partners

The redesign was shaped through extensive testing with students, communications experts and transfer professionals at postsecondary institutions and ONCAT staff. The redesign reflects a multi-phase effort, including content redevelopment, updated persona design and multiple rounds of review and user testing to ensure the site meets real user needs and gives learners clearer direction as they plan their next steps.

In 2025, ONTransfer.ca was used by more than 200,000 users and supported over 1.7 million searches.

About ONCAT

The Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) puts learners first by making it easier to navigate and succeed in Ontario’s postsecondary system. ONCAT drives efficiencies across the postsecondary system through the implementation of shared tools and evidence-based practices that support appropriate academic recognition for previous postsecondary education, as well as knowledge and skills acquired through workplace, non-formal and informal learning experiences.

ONCAT manages ONTransfer.ca, an online guide that helps learners explore transfer and pathway options across colleges, universities and Indigenous Institutes. As a convener and sector partner, ONCAT works with institutions to support learner mobility and strengthen pathways across the system. ONCAT is funded by the Government of Ontario.
