Applicant Requirements: A candidate must be at least nineteen years old, or have an OSSD or equivalent. If English is his/her second language, the student may need to complete a test to show that they meet college language requirements. If you have been accepted into a program at Humber, and confirmed your acceptance through ontariocolleges.ca, you can begin applying for exemption from a course(s) through the PLAR process.

Fees: The fee for a PLAR assessment is $84.00.

Types of PLAR offered: Course specific.

Credit award limits: It is possible to obtain a maximum of 75% of the college credits required for a credential. The actual number of credits granted depends on the level of match between a candidate's prior learning and the college course requirements.

Assessment methods: Portfolio Submission, Challenge Exam.

Steps in PLAR process: Find Your Match. Obtain current course outlines from faculty teaching the course. Review to see if course outcomes match your prior experience. Meet with Program Coordinator for clarification on match. Prepare documentation for Portfolio or Challenge Exam. Apply and Pay Fees. Send your application to transferoptions@humber.ca and pay 84.00 fee. Assessor may contact you directly for further instructions Complete the PLAR request form and gather the appropriate supporting documentation discussed with your program coordinator or academic designate.
